Key elements of the updated plan include a new energy-efficient leisure centre, a central hub and market hall, enhanced pedestrian links and landscaping to encourage communal spaces, eco-friendly new housing with dedicated car parking, traffic reduction measures and the retention of a library.
SDC plan to appoint a development partner by the end of 2025 to refine ideas and engage more public input. The project cost is estimated at £120 million to be self-financed via income from the new housing developments.
